8/14/2012 (Peoria, Arizona) - I am organizing the Fourth Annual Home and Garden Show for Westbrook Village in Peoria, AZ. The event will be on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 9:00am – 1:00pm. Westbrook Village is an upper-middle class adult/retirement community with about 4000 homes located just off the 101 Loop and Union Hills Drive. The show will be held in the Lakes Recreation Center Complex at 19251 N. Westbrook Parkway. The Home Expo/Fall Festival is highly anticipated in the Westbrook community. Hundreds of residents have attended each of the past shows and because of expanded advertising, even more are expected. There will be about 100 vendors that participate in the show.
Entry Fees are very inexpensive, starting at $5-$10. Pre-registration is going on now. You may mail your check now or they are payable in cash on the morning of the event. Registering now will insure you a preferred spot. If you wish to participate, please email me back and I will send you an application. I am restricting the number of businesses in each category, so email me back soon to reserve your spot! (Our vendor list has several categories that filled up fast in past years.) The Home and Garden Club reserves the right to determine vendor placement, but for the most part, tables are on a first-come-first served basis. I will be emailing participants details about the show as plans progress. Contact information:
How to Start Your Own
Go to Fall home and garden show
I think the Fall home and garden show is next weekend at the Expo center (check online). You can meet and talk with some local landscape designer there. Some will help with the design and even go shopping for plants with you. Maybe take pictures with you of the current garden and ask for suggestions.
I met one gal who gives a free 15 minute consultation and I did get a few ideas from her.
Also go to the library and check out books and magazines to get ideas.
Go to the garden shows
There is usually one at the Expo Center and another at the Convention Center that should be coming up soon before spring.
The one at the Expo is more 'home' stuff - hot tubs/spas, windows, etc. I find the one a the Convention Center has more 'garden' stuff. Either way they are fun and you can pick up a lot of information. I used a landscape designer I met at a show.
