The Ohio Expo Center hosts more than 125 events per year and is home of the annual Ohio State Fair. This year, the Ohio State Fair will be held July 29 - August 9, and will feature many exciting attractions, a fantastic Midway, educational exhibits, food, animals and more!

Go to Fall home and garden show
I think the Fall home and garden show is next weekend at the Expo center (check online). You can meet and talk with some local landscape designer there. Some will help with the design and even go shopping for plants with you. Maybe take pictures with you of the current garden and ask for suggestions.
I met one gal who gives a free 15 minute consultation and I did get a few ideas from her.
Also go to the library and check out books and magazines to get ideas.
Go to the garden shows
There is usually one at the Expo Center and another at the Convention Center that should be coming up soon before spring.
The one at the Expo is more 'home' stuff - hot tubs/spas, windows, etc. I find the one a the Convention Center has more 'garden' stuff. Either way they are fun and you can pick up a lot of information. I used a landscape designer I met at a show.
